With the space planning, interior design, material selections, and construction specifics complete: This Design/Build Home Remodel in Aracadia gets underway.
Purchased more than a year ago, the homeowners rented the house out while the planning began for the major remodeling work. That time was spent creating a the list of goals for the home remodel project; and considering how the owners envisioned living in the home. To list a few of the major goals:
Kitchen remodeling, and space planing of the layout for better functionality.
Convert the ceiling structure in the kitchen and family room areas from flat ceiling to vaulted.
Add a larger walk-in closet to the master bedroom.
Bathroom remodeling, and materials updating, of both the guest and master bathrooms.
Replace the flooring throughout the house, and fill-in the sunken living room.
Lorrie routinely met with the homeowners to review the interior design, materials selections, space plan layouts, and CAD renderings of what the house will look like when the home remodel is complete. With the help of our Architect, the construction details, building code requirements, and building plans were created for submittal to the City of Scottsdale for the necessary building permit.
Demolition is underway:
The demolition phase of this Arcadia Design-Build Remodel project began with removal of the existing tile flooring throughout the house. The existing roof trusses will be modified to allow for vaulting of the existing roof structure; which required temporary removal of all the electrical lines running through the roof truss cavities. A few of the challenges uncovered during the demolition phase includes: termite damage, an area of roof leaking, and dangerous un-permitted work by a previous home remodeling contractor.
